Comparing Tesla to the Closest Competitors

For years, Tesla bears have been saying the competition is coming; well; we’ve given them time to catch up; so let’s see how they’re holding up. Note: I am not counting hybrid vehicles or fuel cells; all electric only.

Top 5 All Electric Vehicle Cumulative Sales Ending 2019 North America:

  1. Tesla Model 3: 300,471
  2. Tesla Model S: 157,992

  4. Tesla Model X: 85,077
  5. Chevy Bolt EV: 58,313
2020 Nissan Leaf

Here are those in order by range currently:

  1. Tesla Model S: 402 miles
  2. Tesla Model X: 351 miles
  3. Tesla Model 3: 322 miles
  4. Chevy Bolt: 259 miles
  5. Nissan Leaf: 226 miles
2020 Tesla Model X

Current MSRP Lowest to Highest:

  1. Nissan Leaf : $31,600
  2. Chevy Bolt: $36,620
  3. Tesla Model 3: $37,990
  4. Tesla Model S: $74,990
  5. Tesla Model X: $79,990

Conclusion

Tesla is continuing its lead in the all electric vehicle market; the Model 3 had a mission to be the affordable Tesla; and the numbers clearly show there’s a pent up demand for an affordable and desirable electric car for the masses. With new products like Tesla Model Y; Cybertruck, and rumors of a possible Chinese made compact car; I believe Tesla should continue its dominance over the auto industry’s electric vehicle competition.
