What Solar Energy means for your Health & Independence

Many people don’t know where they get there electricity from. “Electricity is produced by many different sources of energy, including, but not limited to, wind, solar, nuclear, and fossil fuels.” (https://www.epa.gov/energy/power-profiler#/) Electricity production has been one of the leading causes of air pollution for years. Power plants are unanimously something you don’t want to live next to. Studies have shown higher risks of asthma near power plants; especially in poor neighborhoods. Poor neighborhoods usually don’t have a high voter turnout; giving opportunity to power plants to settle in lower income neighborhoods.

Typical power plant installation where electrical power is generated for distribution. It is likely all these outdated power plants will be replaced with solar farms.

Having to rely on people isn’t one of my strong suites. If I can get it done by myself, I gladly will do so. We use to live in a world where the individual could not produce their own electricity very easily. Power plants naturally met the demand for electricity with the power sources they had available. No one wants to buy fossil fuels and produce their own electricity in their backyard for independence. We use to rely on these old, outdated, polluting companies because it’s messy & labor intensive to produce electricity from fossil fuels.

“In 1876 William Grylls Adams and Richard Evans Day applied the photovoltaic principle discovered by Becquerel Selenium. They recorded that it could, in fact, generate electricity when exposed to light.”

Today, we have free access to the worlds biggest power plant, the sun. And since the invention of solar panels; we can now become independent from power plants, & supply ourselves with the majority of our own electrical needs. No one likes paying the power bill. It’s something before the invention of solar, we were basically forced to pay. People who switch to solar are producing their own clean energy for less than the price of dirty energy. This type of independence is good not only for peoples finances, but also for peoples health. With solar panels easily surpassing 20 year life expectancy, the initial burning of fossil fuels to create the panels is offset within roughly 2 years or less.

Tesla’s mobile app lets you monitor your solar, solar roof, and powewall, anywhere, anytime.

Now if you can’t install solar panels on your property because you’re a renter, too much shade, etc, it’s a good idea to get a solar panel emergency charger. (https://amzn.to/3bh99Nk) Blackouts occur and they don’t wait for your small devices to be charged or not. Having a backup solar panel for emergencies, hiking, or everyday use, is going to give you some level of energy independence that prior generations couldn’t even dream of. Don’t be bummed if you don’t own a house that faces the sun, you can still benefit from solar. I personally don’t own a home but I leave a solar charger on my car dashboard while at work. It charges a portable battery that keeps my phone charged. (https://amzn.to/35UdCoh) It’s a small part, but I take pride in using my solar. Every battery percentage charged with a solar panel means less fossil fuels in my eyes.

The health benefits that our society will see as we transition to sustainable energy will be shocking. Dirty skies will become clear as we transition to solar, and health risks from air pollution should decrease. Dirty power plants will become silent solar farms; The useless roof space on your house will now be home to your solar panels. The independence solar power has to offer, will cause the industry to see growth well into the future. New inventions like Tesla’s; Solar Roof, should only speed up the adoption of Solar Energy. Health and independence are there for the taking, and solar power is ready for prime time.
